Description
A lovely mahogany bookcase. We date this bookcase to the first half of the 20th century.The bookcase sits on six downward tapered carved feet, four at the front two at the rear.
The front of the bookcase is of a four panel design with each panel being a side hinged door. The two centre doors are glazed with glass panes with beveled edges and the two side doors are quarter veneered.
The doors are fitted with attractive drop handles mounted on pierced backplates and working locks (key supplied).
The interior of each section is fitted with three adjustable position shelves.
The bookcase cabinet has a height of 50" (127cm), a width of 79" (201cm) and a depth of 15" (38cm).
The internal shelves have a depth of 12" (30cm).
This lovely mahogany bookcase cabinet remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is a very slightly darker mark to the top surface.
This remains a very stylish and elegant mahogany bookcase cabinet which could house a reasonable sized collection of books and display a small sized collection of objects d'art etc. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
