Description
A lovely oriental extending dining table and chairs. We date this set to the late 20th century.The table sits on four square section legs and spade feet. There is a very attractive carved apron running just under the table edge.
The main table has ends which pull apart to allow the two extension leaves to be placed into position. The table is round when unextended.
The table has a height of 30" (76cm), an unextended length of 44" (112cm) and a depth of 44" (112cm). With the two extension leaves in place the length increases to 80" (203cm). The two leaves each measure 44” (112cm) x 18” (46cm).
The chairs consist of six chairs and two carvers. The chairs sit on square section legs with spade feet.
The chair seat pads are upholstered in a light green patterned fabric. The backrests have a splat back with oriental carvings.
The chairs have a height of 37” (95cm), a width of 17" (44cm), a depth of 17" (44cm), a backrest height of 21.5" (55cm), and a seat height of 16.5" (42cm).
The carvers, as normal, are a little wider at 22” (56cm) and have a depth of 19” (49cm).
This lovely large dining table set remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some usage marks on the table top surface and slight wear to the finish.
This remains a very stylish and elegant dining table. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
