Description
A lovely Edwardian oak school cabinet. We date this cabinet to the early 20th century.The cabinet has folders for Paisley (Burgh) School Board.
The cabinet sits on four small downward tapered legs with spade feet.
The interior of the cabinet is fitted with numerous shelves supporting antique folders. Although quite faded, the top folders are marked 1-10 and the lower ones are for the attendance records.
The door is fitted with an attractive drop handle. There is space for a lock but this has been removed at some point in the past, the door is now secured with a small later added catch at the top.
The cabinet has an overall height of 38" (97cm), a width of 21" (54cm) and a depth of 16.5" (42cm).
This attractive Edwardian cabinet remains in a good solid condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is a bit of surface finish wear to the top surface from past use.
This remains a very stylish & elegant Edwardian cabinet. It could serve well as either a filing cabinet or as a side cabinet. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
