An attractive large antique armchair for reupholstery. We date this chair to the late 19th century.
The chair sits on two downward tapered square section legs at the front and two square section legs at the rear all on ceramic castors.
The armrests continue up and are recessed from the base to meet the wing back backrest.
The side wings and backrest have been well padded. The seat base has been padded and sprung.
The chair has been upholstered in a pink damask type material.
The chair is very comfortable to sit on, with the backrest being shaped to provide support for the lower back.
The chair has an overall height of 45" (115cm), an overall width of 31.5" (80cm), an overall depth of 32" (82cm), a backrest height of 33" (84cm), a seat height of 13.5" (34cm), a seat width of 19" (48cm) and a seat depth of 21.5" (55cm).
The chair remains in a good usable condition with only very minor surface marks commensurate with age and usage. The material is showing wear including tears to the fabric as shown in pictures.
This remains a very stylish and elegant armchair. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come. This lovely chair would provide an ideal reupholstery/restoration project for someone with the requisite skills
