Description
A lovely ship's washstand. We date this washstand to the second half of the 19th century.The washstand sits on a slightly protruding plain plinth base.
The washstand top has a dummy drawer front with brass button handles. The dummy drawer lifts the rear hinged top to reveal the basin, the basin has brass plug fittings.
There is a cupboard below with a hinged door fitted with an ornate brass drop handle and backplate. Internally there is a fixed mid height wooden shelf.
The washstand has an overall height of 33" (84cm), a width of 17.5" (45cm) and a depth of 16.5" (42cm).
This lovely ship's washstand remains in good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage, including some minor wear to some of the edges and finish.
This remains a very stylish and elegant ship’s washstand. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
