A lovely set of chairs for restoration. We date these chairs to the late 19th century.
The chairs consist of six chairs and two carvers. The chairs sit on turned legs and stretchers.
The chairs have bergere caning to the seat pads and backrests, for the most part they are quite usable but some require repairs or recaning as can be seen in the pictures.
The chairs have a height of 46" (117cm), a width of 18.5" (47cm), a depth of 18" (46cm), a backrest height of 28" (71cm), a seat height of 18" (46cm), a seat width of 18.5" (47cm) and a seat depth of 15.5" (39cm).
The carvers have a height of 48" (122cm), a width of 22.5" (57cm), a depth of 23" (59cm), a backrest height of 30" (76cm), a seat height of 18" (46cm) and a seat depth of 17" (43cm).
These lovely dining chairs remain in solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. One of the carvers has a repair to the top moulding and also to one side rail. The other carver has a split in the wood at the front rail where the bergere caning is fed through.
These remain a very stylish and elegant set of dining chairs. That will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
