Description
A lovely decorative set of brass balance scales and six weights from 1 lb down to ¼ lb.The scales are mounted onto a wooden base and have a stamp on the arm of the scales “J White & Son Makers Auchtermuchty”.
The scales have a removable plate for the item being weighed.
There are six brass weights, 2x 1 lb, 8 oz, 2 oz, 1 oz, ½ oz and a ¼ oz.
The scales have a height of 57cm, a base width of 53cm and a base depth of 26cm.
This lovely set of balance scales remain in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some wear to the wooden base including some minor indentations, the dishes on the scales have some minor wear and marks as do the weights. Although usable, the brass dish sits at a slight angle indicating that it may not have been original to the scales.
